[restab title="PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES"]

Our Program Educational Objectives (PEOs) are published in the Academic Guide Book of the Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering, as well as in the website. The current PEOs are as follows:

Graduates of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada will:

  1. Apply scientific reasoning and critical thinking to understand, act and execute as professional mechanical engineers.
  2. Apply engineering knowledge, design methodology, and tools to identify, formulate and solve problems in the mechanical engineering field.
  3. Engage in active communication, effective team work, and strong professional networks in order to keep up with the latest progress of engineering issues.
  4. Manage industrial and production activities by applying mechanical engineering knowledge and hand-on skills
  5. Demonstrate spirits of competitiveness, utmost achievement, determination, life-long learning, risk taking, as well as ethical and environmental awareness.

The Student Outcomes of the Mechanical Engineering Study Program conform to the ABET Criterion 3 Student Outcomes a–k. Our current Student Outcomes are as follows, including its brief designation and the corresponding ABET Student Outcome (where applicable):

A.    Core Competencies

  1.   An ability to apply knowledge of mathematics, science, and engineering (Scientific knowledge, a)
  2.  An ability to design, construct, operate and maintain mechanical engineering related mechanisms and systems (Design skills, c)
  3.  An ability to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data (Experimental skills, b)
  4.  An ability to identify, formulate, and solve mechanical engineering problems (Analytical skills, e)
  5.  An ability to use computers and software to analyze and solve mechanical engineering problems (Computational skills, k)
  6.   An ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for mechanical engineering practice (Modern tools, k)
  7.   A technical competence in at least one specific discipline in the mechanical engineering field (Specific competence, a, e, k)

B.    Supporting Competencies

  1.  An understanding of and commitment to professional and ethical responsibility (Professionalism and ethics, f)
  2. An ability to communicate effectively in Indonesian and in English, both to other engineers and to the general public (Communication skills, g)
  3. An understanding of social, cultural, and economic responsibility, along with an awareness of health, safety, environment, and sustainable development principles (Social responsibility, h)
  4.   A recognition of the need for, and an ability to engage in life-long learning (Life-long learning, i)

C.    Additional Competencies

  1.  An ability to work effectively as an individual or within a multi-disciplinary and/or multi-cultural team, either as a member or a leader (Teamwork and leadership, d)
  2.  An understanding of and support for innovative and entrepreneurial activities (Innovation and entrepreneurship, j)
  3.  A knowledge of contemporary issues (Contemporary issues, j)

The Student Outcomes are organized into the three categories above as stipulated by the regulation from the Ministry of National Education of the Republic of Indonesia. The core competencies are outcomes that indicate fundamental engineering  knowledge and skills. The supporting   competencies are outcomes   that indicate professional skills required for a graduate to succeed in the engineering workplace.  The additional  competencies are  outcomes that serve to enrich the graduate beyond the engineering field.
