Program Educational Objectives (PEO)
The Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program at Universitas Gadjah Mada prepares its graduates to:
- Capable of applying critical thinking skills, knowledge and skills to solve problems and challenges in the field of mechanical Engineering and other multidisciplinary professional fields in society
- Has versatility, social competence, and decisiveness as such to be capable of working in teams and to carry out leadership roles in the profession pursued
- Understands and appreciates the importance of life-long learning so as to be able to continue personal character and intellectual development
Student Outcomes (SO)
By the time of graduation, students of the Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program will have:
A1. An ability to obtain comprehensive understanding of mechanical engineering principles and identify, formulate, analyze and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, natural or material science, information technology and mathematics with appropriate and modern methods, skills and tools as necessary
A2. An ability to apply engineering design with appropriate and modern methods, skills and tools to produce solutions such as components, systems and processes that meet specified needs with consideration of realistic constraints such as codes and standards, public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
A3. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation (field or laboratory), analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
B1. An ability to communicate effectively, both orally and written, with a wide range of audiences
B2. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in situations which call for engineering judgement and make informed decisions which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
B3. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members provide leadership, establish goals, plan tasks, meet objectives and evaluate results while promoting a multicultural, multidisciplinary, collaborative and inclusive environment
C1. A realization of the importance of lifelong learning and the ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.
