Semar Team is ready to compete in Driver’s World Championship London

On the last day of Shell Eco-Marathon Asia 2018 in Changi Exhibition Centre, Singapore, Semar Team made a surprise. After competing with hundreds of other participants from various countries in Asia, Semar team succeeded to catch the highest achievement as long as this team joins this competition a few years ago. In this competition, Semar Team sent their two precious cars, namely Semar Proto Electric and Semar Urban Gasoline.

Semar Proto Electric who join this competition for the first time shows their fantastic achievement through become the 4th champion for the category of proto battery-electric in Asia and the 1st in South East Asia after compete with 26 other competitors.

“This achievement is really remarkable considering it’s the first time Semar Proto Electric competes in this competition. I think this achievement is quite good, a lot of experience that we get for future improvement materials, “said Antonius Adhika, as a leader of SEMAR, Monday (12/3). On the other side, Doanta Edison as the coordinator of Semar Proto Electric added that there was a problem in the bearing that broke out at the end of the race so it could not improve the mileage although there was still a chance.

Semar Urban Gasoline, which competed in the urban category, catch the 2nd  place in the Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) class, and was the 1st winner in the prestigious event of Driver’s World Championship (DWC) Asia. From this achievement, Semar Team is entitled to advance to World Driver’s World Championship which will be held in London, England, on July 8, 2018.

Dr. Jayan Sentanuhady as the supervisor of SEMAR said that DWC is the most prestigious automotive competition at the college student level. In DWC, the vehicle not only competes in speed and reliability, but also the efficiency of fuel used. He’s added that the machine performance, aerodynamics body, reliability of vehicle structure, and driver’s ability become the crucial factors to be the winner in this competition.

Finally, in the end, all of the hard work that has been done for approximately 1 year led to the desired results. SEMAR team also promised and ready to provide the best performance in London to initiate the name of Universitas Gadjah Mada and Indonesia in the international.
