In this competition, Semar Team sent their two precious cars, namely Semar Proto Electric and Semar Urban Gasoline.
Semar Proto Electric who join this competition for the first time shows their fantastic achievement through become the 4th champion for the category of proto battery-electric in Asia and the 1st in South East Asia after compete with 26 other competitors.
“This achievement is really remarkable considering it’s the first time Semar Proto Electric competes in this competition. I think this achievement is quite good, a lot of experience that we get for future improvement materials, “said Antonius Adhika, as a leader of SEMAR, Monday (12/3). On the other side, Doanta Edison as the coordinator of Semar Proto Electric added that there was a problem in the bearing that broke out at the end of the race so it could not improve the mileage although there was still a chance.
Semar Urban Gasoline, which competed in the urban category, catch the 2nd place in the Internal Combustion Engines (ICE) class, and was the 1st winner in the prestigious event of Driver’s World Championship (DWC) Asia. From this achievement, Semar Team is entitled to advance to World Driver’s World Championship which will be held in London, England, on July 8, 2018.
Dr. Jayan Sentanuhady as the supervisor of SEMAR said that DWC is the most prestigious automotive competition at the college student level. In DWC, the vehicle not only competes in speed and reliability, but also the efficiency of fuel used. He’s added that the machine performance, aerodynamics body, reliability of vehicle structure, and driver’s ability become the crucial factors to be the winner in this competition.
Finally, in the end, all of the hard work that has been done for approximately 1 year led to the desired results. SEMAR team also promised and ready to provide the best performance in London to initiate the name of Universitas Gadjah Mada and Indonesia in the international.

Team Bimasakti Pertamina UGM and their car, BM-6 was able to prove their ability as a team by having a significant improvement in the Technical Inspection. BM-6 completed the Technical Inspection in one and a half day. After they completed the Inspection, Team Bimasakti continued their feat by participating in the Dynamic Event. In the Acceleration Event, BM-6 able to completed it in 5,962 second, while in Autocross Event they were able to complete it in approximately 1 minute. Team Bimasakti Pertamina UGM also one of the two team form Indonesia that was able to qualify to Endurance Event, but unfortunately for them, at the 9th lap, BM-6 got an unexpected problem and forced to let go this event without being able to finish it.
Another notable feat can be seen from the Static Event points that improved greatly from last year. In the Cost & Manufacturing Event, Team Bimasakti Pertamina UGM able to get 45th position out of 98 participants. In the Design Event, they are able to get 77 points which placed them in 31 position out of all participants and also the highest score from all Indonesian Team. The biggest feat came from Business Presentation when Team Bimasakti Pertamina UGM able to be one of the five team with the highest scores.
UGM also sent another participant to FSAE Japan 2017, Team Arjuna, which is also their first time participating. There are 115 teams participate in this year event and 17 of them are from Electric Vehicle category. Team Arjuna was one of those 17 participating teams. They were participating in Static Event and Dynamic Event. Arjuna Electric Vehicle Team was able to get Best Peresentation for Overseas Parcticipant and got 2nd Best Overall Result in ASEAN for EV Class which is something to be proud of.
Those achievements mentioned above were able to be accomplished because of hardwork and cooperation from every part. Even though there are problems at the competition, Team Bimasakti able to overcome those problems by supporting each other and learning from past experiences. Not only Team Bimasakti, Team Arjuna have prepared for this competition for 8 months, starting from design, manufactur, to administration. There are lots of hardships and joys while preparing and attending the competition. Team Arjuna in particular, was participating for the first time so there are so much rules and things to understand before they are qualified to participate in this competition. This is a new experience for Team Arjuna and these experiences will surely help them for their next participation in FSAE 2018.
Problems that arose is a lessons for the future achievements. “I hope that in the next FSAE competition Team Bimasakti will able to achieve things that cannot be ahcieved this year. Also, prepare yourself for Bimasakti Open Recruitment in the near future,”said by Rifqi, Leader of Team Bimasakti Pertamina UGM.
