The Doctoral Program in Mechanical Engineering aims to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities, conduct research, and improve knowledge and self-development skills of graduates. Graduates are expected to make a tangible contribution in the field of mechanical engineering to advance their careers, whether as researchers, teaching staff, or experts in the fields of design and industrial engineering. Students with backgrounds in engineering or science education are eligible for admission to the Doctoral Program in Mechanical Engineering. This program offers concentrations in the following areas of study:
1. Energi (Energy)
2. Material Teknik (Engineering Materials)
3. Desain, Mekanika dan Manufaktur Terintegrasi (Integrated Design, Mechanics and Manufacturing)

To become a world-class doctoral program in Mechanical Engineering in education and research.

MISSION
Conducting excellent and state-of-the-art education and research in the field of Mechanical Engineering to meet the needs of the community and the engineering world.

TUJUAN:
PDPSTM Aims to produce graduates who are qualified as follows:

  1. Upholding noble values, having an open mindset, being responsive to the advancements in science and technology, and addressing the challenges faced by society, especially in the era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0.
  2. Possessing insights and fundamental knowledge along with technical skills necessary to adapt and/or develop new methods to be applied in conducting systematic reviews.
  3. Mastering the theoretical approaches, concepts, and paradigms most relevant to their field of expertise.
  4. Familiar with contemporary issues, works, and the latest thoughts of experts in their field, particularly in the era of Industry 4.0 and Society 5.0.
  5. Capable of applying knowledge and skills in their field of expertise to find answers and/or solve complex problems, including those requiring interdisciplinary approaches.
  6. Able to communicate thoughts and work results effectively with peers and a wider audience.
  7. Possessing the ability to develop scientific concepts within their expertise through research.
  8. Having the capability to manage, lead, and develop research programs.
  9. Having the ability to approach multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary work within their field of expertise.

PROFIL LULUSAN/GRADUATE PROFILE
The graduate profile is the role that alumni can undertake in the workplace or in a specific field several years after completing their studies. After completing their doctoral education, graduates are expected to excel in the following roles:

  1. As academics in higher education institutions.
  2. As researchers in research and development institutions.
  3. As decision-makers in government agencies or companies.

STANDAR KOMPETENSI LULUSAN/The Graduate Competency Standards
The Graduate Competency Standards (SKL – Standar Kompetensi Lulusan) are the minimum criteria for the qualifications and abilities of graduates, encompassing Attitude, Knowledge, and Skills as stated in the Graduate Learning Outcomes (CPL – Capaian Pembelajaran Lulusan). In CPL, the Skills aspect is divided into two categories: General Skills (which are standardized nationally and adopted from SN-Dikti) and Specific Skills (aligned with Level 9 KKNI according to the field of Mechanical Engineering expertise).

CAPAIAN PEMBELAJARAN LULUSAN
There are 4 elements of CPL (Character, Knowledge, Skills, and General Skills), which are Attitude, General Skills, Special Skills, and Knowledge. The formulations for these 4 elements are:

  1. Attitude
    a. Being devout to the One and Only God and able to demonstrate religious attitudes.
    b. Upholding the values of humanity in carrying out tasks based on religion, morals, and ethics.
    c. Contributing to the improvement of the quality of life in society, nation, state, and the progress of civilization based on Pancasila.
    d. Playing the role of a proud and patriotic citizen, having nationalism and a sense of responsibility towards the country and nation.
    e. Valuing cultural diversity, perspectives, religions, beliefs, and the opinions or original findings of others.
    f. Cooperating and having social sensitivity and concern for the community and the environment.
    g. Abiding by the law and discipline in social and national life.
    h. Internalizing academic values, norms, and ethics.
    i. Demonstrating responsibility for work in their field of expertise independently.
    j. Internalizing the spirit of independence, struggle, and entrepreneurship.
  2. Knowledge Mastery
    a. Mastering the concept of academic integrity in general and plagiarism in particular, including types of plagiarism, the consequences of violations, and prevention efforts.
    b. In-depth mastery of the philosophy of the field of Mechanical Engineering, enabling analysis/computation/simulation/modeling of relevant issues, particularly related to Mechanical Engineering.
    c. In-depth mastery of the philosophy of the field of Mechanical Engineering to support the skill of designing better and beneficial systems/processes/products.
    d. Having a strong understanding of the strengths and weaknesses of current methods/systems/processes/products/materials, and continually striving to maximize the positive aspects and minimize the negative ones.
  3. Special Skills
    a. Capable of expanding knowledge and technology in the field of Mechanical Engineering through multi and transdisciplinary research, leading to innovative and beneficial work while considering economic, health and safety, social, and environmental aspects.
    b. Able to deepen knowledge of the latest technology in Mechanical Engineering through reliable original research.
    c. Capable of providing solutions to current problems in Mechanical Engineering by analyzing and implementing research results, or by utilizing available theories/methods/materials/equipment.
    d. Able to communicate and explain their work to colleagues in Mechanical Engineering and the general public to maximize its benefit.
  4. General Skills
    a. Able to discover or develop new scientific theories/concepts/ideas, contribute to the development and practice of science and/or technology while incorporating humanistic values in their field, by producing scientific research based on scientific methodology, logical, critical, systematic, and creative thinking.
    b. Capable of conducting interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary research, including theoretical and/or experimental studies in the fields of science, technology, arts, and innovation, in the form of dissertations and papers published in reputable international journals.
    c. Able to select relevant and up-to-date research that benefits humanity through an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary approach, developing and/or producing solutions to problems in science, technology, arts, or society, based on studies of available internal and external resources.
    d. Capable of developing a research roadmap with an interdisciplinary, multidisciplinary, or transdisciplinary approach, based on a study of the core research targets and their constellations in a broader context.
    e. Able to construct scientific, technological, or artistic arguments and solutions based on critical views of facts, concepts, principles, or theories that are scientifically and academically justifiable, and communicate them through mass media or directly to the public.
    f. Capable of showing academic leadership in managing, developing, and fostering resources and organizations under their responsibility.
    g. Able to manage, including storing, auditing, securing, and retrieving research data and information under their responsibility.
    h. Capable of developing and maintaining collegial and mutual relationships within their own environment or through collaborative networks with research communities outside the institution.
    i. Able to publish academic work in reputable international journals.
